WAPATO -- After being short two members for more than three months, the Wapato City Council finally chose a local high school graduate and a medical clinical worker to fill those posts.

Three months had passed since both Francis Lame Bull and Lloyd Benscoter left the council. The city had not received any interest in the vacated posts until earlier this month.

From a pool of three applicants, council members last night chose Rita Zuniga, an office worker with Mid-Valley Family Medicine in town, and Curtis Bill, a 22-year-old Yakama tribal member who graduated from Wapato's Pace High School.

The third applicant was Frank Jaime, 58, who also owns Jaime Auto Repair & Towing at 118 W. Second St.

Both Zuniga and Bill will have to run in the 2009 election if they wish to retain their posts.
