Wanderscheid loses final

MILL CREEK -- Zach Wanderscheid's run at the 54th PNGA Junior Boys Amateur Championship ended with a loss to Christian Boudreau in the Sixth Flight final Friday at the Mill Creek Country Club.

Boudreau, from Beaverton, Ore., edged the Goldendale golfer 3 and 2.

Wanderscheid reached the final with a convincing 7 and 6 victory over Bellingham's Sean Moon 7 and 6 in a semifinal match Thursday.

Boudreau advanced by knocking off Yakima's Brad Donahue 3 and 1 in Thursday's other flight semifinal.

William Holdridge of Bellingham was the overall winner, beating Vinnie Murphy from Edgewood 2-up in the Championship Flight final.

 

TENNIS

Teske rallies for City title

Devin Teske of Selah dropped the first set but came back to win the Boys 18 singles title in the Yakima City Junior Tournament on Friday at the Yakima Tennis Club.

Teske finished 3-0 in the round-robin format and rallied to beat Yakima's Cooper Anderson 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the match that decided the top two places.

Anderson teamed with Jeff Carlson to win the Boys 18 doubles title.

The YTC is hosting the Yakima City Adult Tournament through Sunday.

Boys 10 singles: Jack Hemenway d. Keegan Verbrugge, 6-1, 6-1.

Boys 12 singles: Vaunce Montelongo-Solis d. Vicente Montelongo-Solis, 6-4, 7-6.

Boys 16 singles: Geoff Hammond d. Ben Chang, 6-1, 7-5.

Boys 18 singles: Devin Teske d. Cooper Anderson, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Girls 10 singles: Peyton Long d. Caroline Busey, 6-0, 6-2.

Girls 12 singles: Jelena Vidovic d. Margaret Busey, 6-4, 6-2.

Girls 14 singles: Paige Toop d. Ali Sellsted, 6-2, 5-7, 6-0.

Girls 16 singles: Abagail Pellett d. Kayla Long, 6-1, 6-0.

Boys 18 doubles: Cooper Anderson-Jeff Carlson d. Mitchell Anderson-Abe Chang, 7-5, 3-6, 11-9.

Girls 12 doubles: Chloe Goyette-Caroline Goyette d. Caroline Busey-Peyton Long, 6-4, 6-3.

Girls 14 doubles: Claire Bohoskey-Ali Sellsted d. Margaret Busey-Katherine Busey, 6-0, 4-6, 6-1.
